Sometimes, after Rose had pulled a proof, Norman would decide to cut the plate down to strengthen the image. An example of this is Jealousy.The first proof of Jealousy shows a nude to the left of the group and the elimation of this additional figure was obviously essential to the successful composition of the etching.
